#SOUND BLASTER SOFTWARE UPDATE INSTALL#
I've tried allowing Windows to install the X3, and then updating to the drivers that come in from the install package. I've removed every reference to the X3 or its outputs from the device manager, even hidden/non-active instances, uninstalling the driver if the option is available. I've removed all Sound Blaster/Creative software from the machine multiple times.

I've used DDU to remove the Sound Blaster specific drivers. On the second machine, everything works great, new drivers, new software, utterly perfect.Ĭlearly there's something that's gone wrong with my Windows drivers, but I can't seem to sort it out. Worried that I may have inadvertently damaged the X3 itself, I tried the same install processes on another machine. Regardless of what version of Sound Blaster Command I install, or what version of the driver is installed for the X3, Command always crashes, and my audio quality is quite poor with lots of crackling. Alright, fine, things get bugged sometimes, whatever.Īt this point I've done just about everything I can think of to scrub any old software and drivers off, reinstall with new versions, or reinstall with what I started with, nothing works.

I set the software to update my firmware, which it seemed to do so just fine, but when I went to check it out the Command software immediately crashed. Yesterday I saw that there was a new firmware available, as well as an update for Sound Blaster Command. So I've been enjoying my X3 for about 3 weeks now, it's been great, working without issue.
